Replace 6 Toxic Products in your Kitchen

What’s under your kitchen sink - not game to look?

You know most of that stuff is toxic but perhaps you didn’t realise that there were safer, effective alternatives available.

1. Washing up

Try replacing your petroleum based Dishwashing Detergent with a biodegradable and grey-water friendly product such as Enviroclean Dishwash Liquid, gentle enough to use for handwashing.

2. Cleaners & Scourers

EM(effective microorganisms)Citrus, a probiotic cleaner is a safer, smarter alternative to harsh chlorine/ ammonia based spray’n’wipe cleaners. It can be used on most surfaces, even leather, destroys mould easily and brings back the shine to stainless steel over time. To get out stubborn marks, sprinkle surface with Bicarb Soda before spraying.

3. Oven Cleaner

Try Enviroclean’s plant-based, Heavy Duty Oven & Barbeque Cleaner instead of corrosive, lye-based sprays or Bicarb Soda, hot water and elbow grease.

4. Bug Spray

Don’t ever resort to neurotoxic bug sprays – linked to MS, Parkinson’s and other neurological disorders. Try a poison-free sticky trap to reduce numbers or use an essential oil such as Peppermint Oil to deter pests.

5. Drain Cleaner

These chemical caustics just aren’t necessary & are very damaging to the environment. Using EM products on a regular basis and an occasional bicarb/vinegar combo will help to prevent fats and goo from accumulating in drains. Regular plunging will help move anything non-organic.

6. Sponges & Dish Cloths

Sponges are petroleum-derived. Antibacterial sponges harm beneficial microbes as well as allow some harmful microbes to develop resistance. Recycle cotton fabric or towels to use instead. Regular use of EM Citrus Cleaner as your kitchen spray and wipe will prevent the accumulation of dangerous microbes and control odours.
